Building an AI-Driven Healthcare Startup

AI Has Given Me 10 Hands and 10 Brains.

As said by,

Dr. B.V. Srinidhi who is not someone who began his career thinking about startups…

For most of his life, his world revolved around medicine. Hospitals, labs, patients, research was all his day and life.Trained as a microbiologist and laboratory medicine specialist, his professional journey started the traditional way: years of studying medicine, specializing further, and practicing within the healthcare ecosystem.

Born in Tumkur, Karnataka he spent most of his early life and schooling in Bangalore, studying at Sheshadripuram School from first standard all the way to twelfth. From there, he pursued his MBBS at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College in Kolar, followed by his post-graduation at CMC Vellore, one of the country’s most respected medical institutions.

After completing his studies, he spent time working in Chennai’s Vijay Hospital, before eventually returning to Vellore, where he continued his medical practice.

For over a decade, his life looked exactly like what you would expect from a doctor : research, clinical work, patient interactions & building deep expertise in medicine..

And usually, when someone spends 10 to 12 years building a career in medicine, their path becomes quite clear.

It’s a stable profession,

A respected field &

Most doctors continue growing within the same ecosystem.

But Srinidhi’s curiosity kept pulling him somewhere else.

When asked what pushed him toward entrepreneurship? His answer was surprisingly simple..

Innovation.

-Meeting new people

-Building something creative

-Exploring ideas these were things that always interested him.

But the real shift came from watching the Startup India movement around 2014. Seeing startups being recognized and celebrated planted the first seed in his mind. At that point, he didn’t have a clear business idea. He was still practicing medicine and focusing on research.

The thought stayed somewhere in the background.

Years passed.

Then another shift happened AI started entering everyday conversations.

When tools like AI platforms became widely accessible, Srinidhi started experimenting with them.

What began as curiosity quickly turned into serious exploration. He started learning about data science, AI systems, and healthcare data analysis, trying to understand how these technologies could intersect with medicine.

And that’s when something clicked.

AI to him- suddenly felt like a multiplier.

As he describes it,

“AI has given me 10 hands and 10 brains.”

It made research faster, data analysis easier, and opened new ways of thinking about healthcare problems he had been observing for years.

The Startup He Is Now Building:

That curiosity eventually evolved into a venture called aignoz,

The idea behind the company is ambitious but deeply rooted in his medical experience. Srinidhi wants to bring AI and genomics together to improve how healthcare decisions are made.

Today, a lot of medical treatment still follows a generalized approach one solution applied to many patients.

His vision is different.

Using AI and genetic data, healthcare can move toward personalized medicine, where treatments are tailored based on an individual’s biological profile and medical history.

Instead of reacting to diseases after they appear, AI could help doctors:

• Predict disease risks earlier

• Identify severity of infections faster

• Assist doctors with clinical decisions

• Move healthcare toward preventive care

One of the early ideas being explored involves AI tools that can analyze viral infections and predict severity, helping doctors decide treatment pathways earlier and more accurately.

For Srinidhi, this isn’t just a tech idea. It’s the result of years of observing how patients move through healthcare systems, often reaching hospitals only when diseases have already progressed too far.

Building the Team

Like most early-stage founders, Srinidhi is still building his team gradually.

At the moment, the core group includes:

• Srinidhi himself leading the vision

• His wife, a biomedical engineer, working as co-founder

• Lalit, the CTO, who interestingly connected with him through the 18startup community

• A growing network of interns and collaborators

The CTO connection itself happened through the startup ecosystem. Both Srinidhi and Lalit realized they were part of the same 18startup community, and what started as a conversation eventually turned into collaboration.

The larger plan isn’t just to build products.

Srinidhi also wants to train engineers and doctors in healthcare AI, helping create a community that can build these solutions together.

The time of, Entering into the Startup Ecosystem

When Srinidhi attended the 18startup bootcamp in Koramangala, he didn’t arrive with a fully structured startup plan.

He came with ideas. Lots & Lots of them.

But what he lacked was a structured way of thinking about startups

-how to turn ideas into product-show

-how to approach MVPs?

-how to prepare something for the market?

The four-day bootcamp experience helped change that.

It helped him understand:

• How founders think about execution

• How to structure an idea into an MVP

• When an idea is ready to be presented to the market

• The mindset required to lead a startup

Just as importantly, it gave him a network a people he could talk to, learn from & collaborate with. That ecosystem eventually led to partnerships like finding his CTO within the same community.

The Long Road Ahead

Healthcare innovation is not a fast process. Unlike many tech startups, building tools for medicine requires clinical validation, regulatory approvals, and collaboration with hospitals and research institutions.

And he is fully aware of that!! In fact, he openly acknowledges that this will be a slow and long journey.

But that doesn’t discourage him.

If anything, it’s exactly the kind of challenge he wants to take on.

The long-term goal fo Aignoz is to build systems where AI and genomics work together to improve diagnosis, enable predictive healthcare, and bring a more personalized approach to medicine.

It’s a vision that could take years to unfold. But for him, the journey has already begun.
